Lyndahl SB242M, 2-Way Compact Speaker, 5.25", 80 Watt, 8 Ohm, swivelling wall bracket
The SB242M is a 5.25" compact speaker for wall mounting in commercial interiors. Its frequency response from 104 Hz to 20,000 Hz cleanly covers the entire speech and music range — with a particular focus on clear mids and precise highs for announcements and background music.
Technology
The bass-midrange driver uses a PP cone, a rubber surround and a 25.9 mm voice coil in a T-yoke drive. This design ensures even guidance of the voice coil within the magnetic field and reduces non-linear distortion in continuous operation. The tweeter uses a Mylar dome with an NdFeB magnet — a maintenance-free, durable pairing of materials for continuous use.
The PP cone and rubber surround are mechanically robust and insensitive to temperature fluctuations in indoor environments.
Mounting
The wall bracket is permanently fitted to the housing and is swivelling, so that the direction of projection can be adjusted after mounting. Fixing is done directly to the wall — without ceiling cut-outs or recessed installation work. As each speaker is sold individually, the number of units can be matched precisely to the room geometry and zone layout.
How many speakers does the room need?
The following figures are guide values for even background sound with a mounting height of 2.2 to 2.5 m and the speakers angled slightly downwards. For voice announcements only, one unit fewer is usually enough; where the ambient noise level is high — an open kitchen, a sports bar, hard surfaces — plan for one more.

Each AMP4X15BT drives a maximum of four speakers, every one on its own channel. Running only two speakers is perfectly fine — open channels do not harm the unit.
Planning note from six speakers upwards: two amplifiers mean two separate Bluetooth connections, and those do not run in sync. In that case feed both units via the AUX input from one shared source, and the whole area plays together. Connecting one amplifier over Bluetooth and the other over AUX results in an audible offset.
Power is rarely the bottleneck in this kind of system: 15 W into 88 dB sensitivity works out at almost 100 dB at one metre, while background music typically runs on one to two watts. What decides the result is even distribution across the room, not the wattage.
For systems with more than eight speakers, across several floors, or with a duty to deliver emergency announcements, 100-volt technology is the right route. The SB242M is a low-impedance 8-ohm speaker for small systems and is not designed for that.
System integration
The SB242M can be operated directly with the Lyndahl AMP4X15BT. This 4-channel Bluetooth amplifier enables music streaming via smartphone or playback via AUX, powers up to four speakers via separate channels and can be installed in a space-saving manner in suspended ceilings or furniture — a turnkey combination for the hospitality sector, offices or retail.
Application
The SB242M is suitable anywhere that even background sound or speech announcements are the priority: conference rooms, training rooms, restaurants, retail, hotel lobbies, waiting areas, gyms and corridors.
